Certificate of conformity (CoC)

Certificate of conformity is a document which certify that the goods which are getting imported meet certain pre defined criteria.


Some countries have strict rules for imported items in order to ensure safety of their citizens, some countries want to ensure that the products they are importing meet international standards, some countries have particular rules associated to environment, child
labour etc. An independent inspection agency approved by government performs the inspection at origin and issue CoC if the goods meet the pre defined criteria.


Sometimes buyer requests for CoC to ensure that the goods meet certain standard, safe to be consumed or in case they have to show the documentary proof to the end customer that the goods are safe for further use or consume.

Which agencies can issues CoC ?
This needs to be checked at destination country at the time of appointing any inspection agency for CoC.
These agencies are widely accepted for issuance of CoC:

B. Bureau Veritas
C. Intertek
D. Cotecna
