Turant Customs

 Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) launched it's flagship programme named "TURANT CUSTOMS" on 8th June 2020.



Implemented based on Circular No. 09/2019, dated 28th February 2019.

This programme is introduced in order to promote faceless, paperless & contactless clearance. Once cargo Bill of entry is filled & shipment is arrived, BOE will be allocated to one custom officer randomly, that custom officer will do the assessment and then the clearance will be done accordingly.

1) The vision behind Turant customs is to improve India's rank in World bank's ease of doing business index.  

2) This scheme promote Faceless, Paperless, and Contactless clearance.

3) Custom clearance will be faster.

4) It will eliminate the routine interface with custom officers which is beneficial for importers and their CHA.

5) Digitization of custom documents will happen.

6) Custom officers from outside of Port of discharge can do assessment imported goods - Example: If goods are arrived at Chennai port, custom officer based at Bangalore can do assessment and vise versa.


Implementation:

This programme will be implemented everywhere in India, it will be implemented in Bangalore & Chennai in first phase which will be completed by 31st December 2020. 

Imports of mechanical, electrical and electronics machineries at Ports, Airports and ICDs of Bangalore & Chennai will be covered under first phase.
